Digital art would be an alternative but a bit cheaper version of any kind of art now. The reason it is cheap is that digital arts are available to everyone on the internet. The Balloon Dog Deflated is a perfect example showing that idea. Everyone can download a GIF or moving image from the internet for free, why bother purchasing one. The difference is that I think most moving images online carry the same or even more information than traditional artworks. They can be implemented with much more elements and modified easily. That might be the problem with the GIFs for now, because everyone can make it, and mostly for fun instead of pure art.
As Corrina said during class, the artist of the Ballon Dog was sold with but cheaply, and the artist said that was just for fun. I believe he was meant to make partially a test to people just like the toilet artwork.
For me, I don’t think I am really good at making art of any kind, because I am quite bad at drawing. Most art requires drawing of some kind. Digital and collage became my way of solution. These might involve some stealing process and post-production during the editing but the work created by me can be seen as artwork or may not be. However, my original purpose is to create something that could speak for me and show my ideas, if the work is capable of delivering a message and idea, that work could be a piece of art.
